Can Hello Kitty Handle the Front Desk?
GUESS WAT???
This is the exact headline that I came across in an article in Business 2.0 April 2006 issue.
INTERESTING!!!
A japanese staffing firm wants to add front-desk personnel to the list and henceforth, in February this year, the Nagoya based People Staff launched a service called ‘Robot Dispatch’ for US$424 a month, or put in in retro-spect, 1/6 the cost of one of the firm’s human temps - Japanese companies can now rent an eletronic receoptionist shaped like Hello Kitty! (See picture)
This Hello Kitty receptionist is manufactured by Business Design laboratory, also based in Nagoya. It is a 20 inch tall Hello Kitty Robo which can recognize up to 10 faces, ask visitors to speak their names, and tell them when the person they have come to see is ready. They can also store 20,000 conversation patterns, songs, riddles and the robot is arguably more entertaining than many real attendants! (Well, it is a novelty I am sure it would be popular, at least for now…)
However, this new robot may be a good thing for the service available in Japan as most companies & corporations do not have a person at the reception.
Hmmm…
Wonder if they have a Kitty robot that does cleaning & ironing…..

Hello! I hope your move was good and you’re settling in fine.
I saw this H Kitty talking robot once on Wu Zongxian’s show, “Wo Cai”. It’s very interesting indeed! I wonder if anyone in Singapore has one…
